The goal of the LifeSciTrainers community is to accelerate science by accelerating scientists. We want to “improve life science by ensuring scientists and educators have the latest skills and knowledge they need to succeed (see our vision).”
To accomplish this, we have assembled a community of more than 370 members who deliver training that empowers life scientists. Using Slack, we’ve organized to share knowledge and experience though community calls and informal conversations. Building towards a community of practice allows us to deliver training more effectively, improve our careers, and accelerate the pace of discovery.
A Global Survey, Taking the Next Step
The next major step for our community is to better understand the needs and practices of life science trainers across the globe. If you deliver short-format training (workshops, boot camps, short-courses, etc.) to life scientists then you are a LifeSciTrainer!
A group of more than 30 volunteers have collaborated on a survey to learn more about how LifeSciTrainers work across the globe. We hope to identify common challenges, needs, and opportunities to make our work better. We also want to highlight and formalize the role of trainers in our community.
If you are a trainer, we invite you to take the survey and also join our community (Slack invitation). Please also share the survey!
If you are a life scientist, consider sharing with an instructor from a workshop or short-course you have benefited from.
