Abstract

What do you want to be when you grow up? This is a question that we were all asked as children and likely into our teens. In retrospect, how many of us wanted to be educators or life scientists or bioinformaticians? I surely did not. I will cover a few key aspects of my journey from being a really bad TA to someone who loves teaching and mentoring. The hope is to use this talk to come together and share our stories about turning points in our careers that brought us to where we are now. Did you have a mentor/teacher that helped you, or was it an event? Let’s share our stories!
